We're Becky and Dean Derby and we're glad your preferred internet search engine has brought you to us. Since you've gotten this far, we'll assume we've piqued your curiosity and that you'd like to know more. If not, then you may be lost and in that case you might be here a while before one of us shows up to let you out, given that we're sporadic website updaters.

That's because we're busy making windchimes, suncatchers, and ornaments. We opened Back Porch Glass Chimes in July of 2006 and immediately began growing. We exceeded 100 accounts in late 2007 and are at 250 here in the closing month of 2008, which makes us puffed-up-proud. And every one of those gallery folks is just great and we appreciate all of them. We've never done anything this rewarding before, so you can bet we plan to be in this for a long, happy while.

We're a small studio in upstate New York - anywhere north of New York City is considered upstate, you know - in the Hudson River Valley. Each piece is handmade by the two of us - from the cutting of the vibrantly colored Spectrum Glass we use all the way through the fusing and final assembly. As you've already seen, our taste is for bright and colorful, with plenty of texture and smiles built in.

We truly love these pieces and - since you're still here - we think you will as well.

And as a note to those of you who find some of these pieces somehow familiar, we'd like you to know that we're carrying forward the spirit of the wonderful glass work created by Diane Prekup of One by One Originals. We met Diane a year or so after she'd stopped fusing glass, yet she still had people calling for her chimes. So we raised our hands and Diane kindly mentored us to carry on the work she had started.
